About TLBP

{Also known as ‘More Than You Ever Wanted To Know’}

Photography

Having always loved taking pictures and after having a digicam for a long time, I finally got a *good* camera, my Nikon D80, several years ago and have been shooting and learning ever since. I’ve been having so much fun with it! Seriously, I love photography. I love creating frameable art. Love. it. People have told me I have an eye for art and composition which part of the reason I’ve decided to launch my own business. But, mostly, I want to be able to share my gift with others, preserving their memories, being the person behind those photos on the wall.

Business

As of right now, TLBP is located in Bowman, ND. We are approximately 175 miles from Bismarck, 60 miles off of I-94. If you are interested in having me do a shoot for me, check out my pricing page, as well as my contact info. I am definitely willing to travel, but for anything farther than 75 miles, I will have to add a small fee. That’s only to cover my gas- not to make more money. I would love to come wherever it is you want me to shoot- SD, MT, WY, wherever you are, I’ll come.

I currently offer portrait packages for families, children, infants, seniors, engagement, trash-the-dress, and bridal sessions. Also, I would love, love, LOVE to get into birth photography- if you’re within reasonable driving distance and are interested in having the precious moments of your birth documented and preserved, please, please contact me!

If you didn’t notice- in the above paragraph I did not mention wedding packages. That’s because *gasp* I don’t have one. As of right now, I am not advertising as a wedding photographer. Why? Simply because as a solo, fairly new (pro) photographer, I don’t feel like I would do a good enough job. At least not a job that I personally would be happy with and proud to put my logo on. This is not to say I can’t be convinced but, as a rule, no, I don’t do weddings. The only things that could possibly convince me would be you being a family member or a young couple that is flat broke and has next to no money to toward photography for their wedding. This is something I am hoping to get into down the road, but only after my business is established, I have more experience, and have a second (and maybe third?) shooter to help out.

Family

Regina is the absolute brainiac behind the awesomely cool thing know as The Left-Brained Photographer. She jets around the world photographing the weddings, children, and various life events of her celebrity clients. Ok, back up. NOT! Actually, at the time of this writing, she has yet to have a single paying client. Depressing, she knows. But she’s hoping this blog/site will help out with that. The only truth in that statement is that she is truly left-brained. Analytical, logical, etc., etc. Not the artsy-fartsy right-brainer that most people think of when they think of an artist. Whether or not this non-artist artist is actually an artist is up to you, the viewer to decide.

Speaking in the first person now, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m 21 years old and I think I’m going to stay here for the rest of my life. It’s a nice age to be!

Muah*

I am passionate about 4 things, yea, 5 things make my soul sing: my Jesus, my family, farming, natural birth, and photography. Music, many, many different kinds of music, comes in a very close 6.

I am saved by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

I am loved by my husband and son.

Farming touches a part deep inside me- the smells of freshly turned soil and diesel smoke,  the sight of the combines headed down the the field, the dust in the air, the thunk-thunk-thunk of the dairy barn pulsators- and connects my roots and my present.

I am strengthened by my body’s ability to birth my children. Naturally. At home.

Music brings out my emotions, caresses my heart, soothes my mind.

And all of the above inspire my photography. I love shooting families, children- actually people in all stages of life- and all the love that comes with them. My favorite landscapes are those in this country’s incredible heartland- vast prairies, rugged mountains, and farms. Especially that. And while I haven’t had the chance yet, I’m just dying for the chance to document someone’s birth for them. I love birth and everything that goes with it (except for unnecessary interventions). In fact, I have aspirations of being a doula. But that will most likely come once I myself am done birthing babies and they’re not babies anymore. Yes, I’m a birth freak, but that’s beside the point. I’m so blessed by God to have been given these passions, aspirations, and talents. I don’t even want to imagine how boring a passionless life would be.

I am married to my sweetheart, known here as JD Man. I love him so much. Even when he finds my secret stash of chocolate and helps himself. Not that I have a secret stash of chocolate.

JD Man

He is an under appreciated genius who can do anything with his hands. Seriously, anything. If it involves nuts, bolts, dirt, shovels, manure, plants, 2×4s, flywheels, fertilizer, grease, livestock, hammer and nails, screwdrivers, or ratchet sets, he can fix it, build it, drive it, or keep it alive. He currently works on a local family farm as a full-time maintenance guy and all-around handyman. Not the most glamorous of jobs but he loves his work. Honestly, it’s what he wants to do. Well, next having his own place. That’s at the top of the ‘Seemingly Unachievable Dreams’ list.

If you haven’t already figured it out by his blog nickname, he’s a John Deere tractor junkie. He enjoys all tractors in general but antique tractors, particularly antique John Deere tractors, have a special place in his heart.

Baby G

Baby G*

And then there’s Little G, the awesome little boy that we two nutjobs get to be the parents to. He loves Cheerios, Curious George, tractors, and throwing things out of his playpen. And Mom and Dad. We think, at least. He hasn’t told up that yet, but we’re pretty sure he likes us anyways.

As of right now, he has an absolute mouthful of teeth. Seriously, anyone who ever looks at him comments on all of his teeth. He might not walk quite yet, but does he ever have teeth!

Yup, I tremble at the idea of him walking. He’s a speed crawler, getting into absolutely everything as soon as my back is turned- when he walks, he’ll run.

But I really can’t complain. In the grand scheme of things he has been such an easy baby. Sleeping through the night at 4 weeks, never being terribly fussy, being a complete little flirt. He loves getting out and seeing new people. His favorite part of going to the grocery store is smiling (and pretty much batting his eyelashes) at folks just to see if they’ll smile back.

Yes, this child has been such a blessing to us, since the day he was born. Which, by the way, was at home. In our bedroom. On our bed. After only 8 minutes of pushing.

See, told ya it was gonna be more than you ever wanted know.
